Iran claims it defused cyberattack on nuclear sites
Jun 21st 2012, 15:03

TEHRAN, Iran –  An Iranian news agency says the country's experts have defused a "massive" cyberattack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

The semiofficial ILNA news agency says the attack came after Iran and world powers met earlier this week in Moscow to discuss Iran's nuclear program.

Thursday's report quotes Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi as saying "Iran knew the attack would happen" and was prepared to defend itself. Moslehi claimed Iran faces cyberattacks on a daily basis. He did not elaborate.

Iran has in the past said it neutralized cyberattacks on its nuclear, industrial and governmental sites, blaming the attacks on the U.S. and Israel. Most recently, the powerful Flame computer malware briefly affected Iran's oil industry.

Iran says the Stuxnet virus attacked employee laptops at Iran's nuclear power reactor in 2009.
